Checkout Settings

Taxes and charges, abandoned-cart recovery, and the checkout experience customers get.

Checkout Settings gathers the rules that apply after a customer decides to buy.

Checkout Settings

Taxes & Charges

The money added to, or waived from, the cart total:

SettingPurpose
Tax rateThe tax applied to the order
Shipping chargeFlat delivery fee
Free shipping overCart value above which shipping is waived
Minimum order valueThe smallest order you will accept

A free shipping threshold set close to your average order value is a strong nudge; set too far above it and it does nothing but annoy people. Check your average order value on the Overview page before choosing a number.

Abandoned Cart Recovery

Customers who start an order and stop can be reminded automatically.

ControlWhat it does
ToggleTurns recovery reminders on or off
TimingHow long to wait before reminding — 30 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours or 24 hours

Shorter timings catch people who got distracted; longer ones catch people who were comparing prices. One reminder that arrives while the intent is still fresh beats several that read as nagging.

Checkout Experience

Three toggles that change what the customer goes through:

SettingEffect when on
Send order confirmationThe customer gets a confirmation message once the order is placed
Guest checkoutCustomers can buy without registering
Order notesCustomers can add a note to their order — delivery instructions, gift messages
